Quality CCTV for $1200
Samsung has launched a new network dome camera designed for use in demanding outdoor surveillance locations. The Samsung SND-460V is a vandal resistant IP camera. This camera has a day/night switching, connects to your network and is accessible via your computer. But what is very cool about this camera is it has an SD card slot! The camera can be setup to record (by motion detection only if you want) to an SD card and all this setting up and reviewing can all be via network connection using the supplied software. What this means is that you don't need to purchase a Digital Video Recorder, the camera itself can do the job and for around the $1200.00 mark you can get a quality CCTV system working for you.

Home Automation - All on 1 Remote!
Insight EDS can now supply and install Control4 Home Automotion equipment. This gear is very cool and retrofitable, using a wireless network for audio, video and lighting which means that you don't have to rewire your home. You also don't need to do the complete system all at once; existing audio and video equipment can be used, existing alarm systems can be interfaced for lighting control (DSC & Paradox) and it can all be done in stages to fit your budget. Control4 takes all the technology in your home and brings it together on one remote, making it easy to control, use and enjoy.

The Vanishing Reed
Incorporating aesthetics seldom seen in the security industry, the Power Series 9045 just released by DSC features bold, contoured lines and enlarged keypad buttons that are easy to interpret and use. Also, despite occupying the smallest footprint of any self-contained wireless alarm system available, the Power Series 9045 is equipped with the industry’s largest, full-message LCD display.
A simplified wireless device enrolment process greatly reduces overall installation times. Installers no longer need to manually program serial numbers or wireless attributes. Instead, a series of enrolment screens prompt installers to confirm Electronic Serial Numbers (ESN), zone numbers and zone type. If an installer attempts to enrol a device already recognized by the system, the keypad will identify it as a duplicate and display its assigned zone and ESN.
But most impressive of all is what they term the vanishing reed which is a wafer thin wireless reed switch, it has been out for a while and we have used it at a few jobs now where getting a wired solution was not possible. They work great and without prior knowledge as to what it is you would never guess just what it is. Battery life is 5-8 years.
